Capt.
William A. Branch
ADV Team 86 & 99, 2nd Bn 46th ARVN
1966-67 Long An Province
Dad was a Bn advisor for the
25th ARVN DIV. The photos he sent home were of a smiling young officer. His
pencil sketches were of My Loc children in tattered clothes. His letters were
hopeful. He wrote every day from that war... about America's integrity, about
starting a family, about his life. Xoai Doi. Rach Kien. Can Duc. Combat ops
and faces of war were documented carefully in two photo albums. He saw lessons
and beauty there all around him. He didn't know he'd be passing them on to me,
one day. Thanks Dad.
Recognize
anyone? Let me know.
The packages Dad is passing out are from my mother's sixth graders. They are Tet gifts for the children of the My Loc school. The guy sitting in the chair next to Dad is Major Bui Van Vien, his counterpart. Not sure about the other guys. I have two very detailed photo albums and I am looking for the men whose faces appear in them. Please help. I have yet to meet any of these men. Allebach, Max, Roy, Douglas, Cpt. Sousa, Lt. Sammons, Cpt. Sands, Cpt. Poole, Don Summerford, Cohill and LTC Teany. Sound familiar?
