Another basic piece of equipment I always carried in
the field was the combat bandage, stored in a four by five-inch canvas pouch. The
bandage was sealed in a clear plastic bag to keep out moisture.
It unfolded to a six inch wide, one inch thick bandage
designed specifically for combat wounds. Two-foot gauze ties extended from both
sides. In use, the bandage was placed over a wound and the ties fastened to hold it
in place. After three weeks in the field I decided to carry more than one of these,
also.
