[23] SSG Carlos Alvarez
A tribute: "SSgt Carlos Alvarez, Bravo Co. 2/14th, the finest platoon sergeant there ever was. He seemed so gung-ho and so keen on keeping his distance from us grunts, but all the while he was devoted to saving our lives and seeing that we got back on that Freedom Bird. I didn't realize it til long afterward and I can't thank him enough, wherever he is. My eyes are welling up with tears as I write this."
