Commando Brigade Soldier killed in Iraq March 11

FORT DRUM – A Soldier from the 10th Mountain Division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team was killed in Iraq March 11 in Baghdad when his vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device.
Sgt. Thomas L. Latham, 23, was an infantryman assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment.
The Delmar, Md., native joined the Army in September 2002 and completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Ga.
His first assignment was with the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, from January 2003 to March 2006, when he was reassigned to Fort Drum.
Latham deployed with his unit to Iraq in August 2006.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Award, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Driver Badge.
