Readout on (illegible) - Elements were conducting H&Is. One track prepared to fire M-60 on right side of track. Warning was given to adjacent track where individual who was shot was standing on the track and facing the test fire track. Rounds we5re fired too low striking the berm and causing the rounds to ricochet back striking individual. |

Summary: At 1030 hours, 3/4 Cav plow hit a mine vicinity XT606657 and blew a track off. It was a 30-40 pound mine south of the road. They requested a routine ambulatory MEDEVAC for perforated eardrum. At 1300 hrs the dusters received one RPG round and 2 magazines of AK47 fire vicinity (illegible) going from FSB Byrd to Dau Tieng. There were about 3 enemy on the north side of the road and they fled to the north. The ??? rebased to Flex control at 1625 hours with 13+30 blade hours. A Co engaged one NVA vicinity XT458404 at 1706 hrs, he was sitting on the edge of a bomb crater 50 meters away when A Co engaged. He had neg weapons or documents and had on a NVA uniform. (Illegible) was requested at 1800 hrs from Tri Tam for mechanical ambushes, DTG031200-121200 Aug. (Illegible) requested by 25th ARVN's at 1938 hrs. At 1939 hrs A Co reported engaged and killing 2 NVA with negative weapons but had documents vicinity (illigible). ? Co 3d platoon had a mechanical ambush tripped (illegible) at 1925 hrs and will sweep in the morning. Brigade repoted at 2130 hrs that (illegible) was hit by 30 VC at (illegible). They were led by Ba Trang, an asst plt leader (illegible). There were also 5 NVA along that carried K-54 pistols. A Trp 3/4 Cav requested an urgent litter, Evac at ?? hrs for a man shot in the throat during a test fire with M-60's at location XT606?57. JOURNAL CLOSED |
