Summary: Co A departed FSB Patton at 0600 to search area east of Bau Dieu. Co C conducted recon operation out of NDP - found recent trail activity east of NDP (Night Defensive Position), found and destroyed 1-155mm dud, 1-8" dud, 1-105mm booby-trap, 6 aircraft flares, found 3 nose plugs for 107mm rocket, 2 sets of aiming stakes which were pointing towards Trung Lap and Cu Chi. Co D conducted recon operation out of PB Hunsley - found and destroyed 2-105mm duds, 7 spider holes, a tunnel and a bunker, found trail activity running NE to SW to the SE of Patrol Base. LNO reported a VC attempting to Chieu Hoi was stabbed by another VC - he was dusted off to 12th Evac. 2 companies 2/49th ARVN conducted a recon operation out of NDP. 1 company 2/49 ARVN conducted relocation operation of civilians for Lao Lao to Trung Lap in conjuction with 495 RF Company. B Co engaged 30-40 VC at AP site SW of Hunsley, received no return fire, engaged with small arms fire, mortars, artillery, Night Hawk, LFT, flare ship and C&C ship. Swept contact area and found 2-BK and 1 AK-47. Bau Dieu tower received small arms fire and 1 RPG - returned fire with small arms. 3 Co 2/49 ARVN received 13 rounds of 60mm fire, suffered 5 WIA, returned fire with mortars and arty, took 1 POW. C Co AP sighted individuals moving west of their position and engaged with mortars. |
