B Co requests 1 tube of micro salve ointment, 1 roll of adhesive tape, 1 bottle salt tablets
17 0625 C Co reports being hit on perimeter by small force of VC checking it out. 18 0650 A Co requests one demo kit for resupply 19 0700 C Co requests dustoff for injury due to ambush - number of wounded not yet known. 20 0710 B Co reports receiving rifle grenades at coord XT499327, amount unknown. Also the helicopter that was resupplying B Co received heavy AW fire while departing LZ, damage unknown. 21 0730 Ref Item 19: C Co had a 12-man patrol returning from ambush site, while moving they went off course about 200 meters. VC had an ambush set up with one 30 Cal machine gun, 2 AW's, 1 M-79, 2 Chicom claymores and five Chicom grenades. Results 2 US KIA, 4 US WIA. Results of VC unknown, also, Arty FO spotted a VC base camp at same location ambush was set off. Possibly the patrol could have walked into a VC base camp instead of an ambush. Will search area. XT508341 22 0830 B Co reports beginning their move. 23 0855 A Co reports new totals for yesterday's ammo found: (27,350) rounds 7.92 ammo, (49) 40mm Chinese flares, (200) Chicom grenades, (125) RPG-2 rocket rounds, (22) 57mm Recoilless rounds, (4) 81mm mortar rounds, (7) 60mm mortar rounds, (19) rolls of firing wire,. (500) rounds of .30 Cal. ammo, (2) blasting machines, (500) rounds of 7.92 linked ammo, (44) rifle grenades. Holding for extraction. 24 0900 1st Bde informed 2/14 Bn CO that B Co 4/23 Inf is OPCON to 2/14 Inf as of 0900 hrs. 26 1114 B Co requests one PRC-25 radio on resupply this afternoon. 27 1152 C Co reports finding a VC base camp, seems to have been a command HQ. Found 5 bunkers (cement) 10 ft deep x 10 ft wide x 30-35 ft long. Inside are tables, chairs, cement shelves. Still searching. XT508338 28 1216 A Co requests 2 IV sets on afternoon resupply. 29 1233 A Co found 2 more hooches, tin roof, camouflaged, 6 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft, inside found 30,000 rounds of ammo and 1 ton of rice, will remove the rice to search for hidden tunnels. 30 1238 A Co request for later this afternoon - 2 cans of gas or diesel fuel to burn the captured rice. Will contact S3 when LZ has been prepared, XT505344. 31 1330 Ref Item 21: C Co reports 1 VC KIA (BC) 32 1337 Ref Item 27: Still searching VC base camp. Have found a shower point, sleeping quarters, a big brass wheel, also the bunkers had double tops. Found heavy blood stains around some of the bunkers which were blown by Arty. Also found some French canteens. 35 1415 B Co reports finding 600 ft electric wire, 21 Chicom grenades, 2 Chicom mines, 200 bags of black powder, 3 butterfly bombs, 1 fuse, at coord XT502325. 36 1436 C Co reports having 1 US WIA (slight) from this morning's ambush, dustoff by C&C ship. 37 1437 B Co reports smelling a very heavy smell of something dead, will search area XT502327 38 1510 B Co reports at XT507328 found one tin hooch with 5 bicycles and some tires. 39 1515 A Co requested 125 gal can of water for emergency resupply as soon as possible. 40 1552 C Co requests 100 ft of detonator cord, 26 40-lb shaped charges, 2 cdases of C-4, 1 box blasting caps, 12 ponchos. 48 1921 B Co request for resupply: 1 case smoke, 1 case foot powder, 7 pair jungle fatigue trousers (S-R), 1 jungle fatigue shirt. A Co requests: 1 case smoke 49 1933 C Co requests dustoff for 1 US with dislocated elbow, XT508341 50 1950 A Co report of captured items for 28 Apr 67: (40,000) rounds SA ammo, (25) Chicom hand grenades, (14) 57mm recoilless rounds, (45) lbs TNT, (2) 57mm recoilless sights, (4) wheels for recoilless rifle, (4) mines M1A1 type, (1) bipod for 57mm recoilless rifle, (1) anti-tank mine, (3,000) lbs loose rice, (7) 6-volt batteries, (3) huts 4 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft deep with tin roofs, tunnels in floor approx 10 feet long (destroyed). 51 2011 C Co reports one of the patrols spotted some VC, advised to hold up on dustoff. 52 2110 C Co reports receiving 2 mortar rounds on southern perimeter, no friendly casualties. 54 2151 C Co reports VC are moving out of his area, will call Arty on them XT506533.
