Proud Upland contacted Dragon 33 to report friendly recovery activity at XS520770, request we notify next higher command.  Notified Bde.

38 0415 Patrol 3 has 2 people 25 meters from their location.
43 0450 Patrol 3 reports the 2 people seem to have split up.
47 0532 Patrol 3 reports the 2 individuals are gone.
63 0744 Informed A & B Co to tie all water cans together before extraction.
65 0856 Engineers cleared the road between base camp and ARVN outpost.
66 0928 B Co requests dustoff for 1 US heat casualty (serious), LZ at XS617864, completed 1006 hrs
68 1545 Ref Item 94, 8 Apr:  There were 43 lbs of documents and hospital forms at coord XS632873.  Included personnel sent to hospital and released, by name, rank and unit, what were their wounds; personal letters, one secret document, six reports on unit personnel telling what jobs each person held, by name.  One VC medical instruction book.
69 1015 Delayed Entry 1015 hrs:  Ref Item 106, 8 Apr:  B Co found approx 18-21 lbs of documents that contained personal logs, children's lesson books, personal letters, warfare books and one document contained the organization of squads.
71 0745 Road clearing Engr & Recon element located Chicom M-32 hand grenade vic XS651780 on right side of road traveling south.  Appeared to have been there for several days, was blown in place.
74 1205 Air strike on series of canals XS620877 completed at 1037 hrs.
75 1250 A Co requests dustoff for 1 US WIA leg wound (litter), LZ secure at XS619864.
76 1325 A Co resupply of water completed
79 1335 A Co has 1 US heat casualty, Bn will pick him up
80 1550 Bde informed 2/14 that A & B Co are reconning by fire into Manchu Charlie's area, informed them to fire directly into ground.
81 1555 Bde informed 2/14 to have A & B Co cease reconning by fire.
84 1750 A Co has 2 heat casualties, will be brought in by resupply ship.
86 1833 Requesting dustoff for casualty with smoke inhalation.  Lt. Cope, Bravo Co.
88 1912 Received from Cannon 31 spot report, 1 VC Company at XS635797, will be taken under artillery fire.
89 1930 Report from Dragon 3 on ARCLIGHT results:  B Co reports negligible damage along canal 69, about 10 old bunkers and spider holes were destroyed.  A Co reports one small ammo cache was destroyed at XS611855.
90 1940 B Co requests 7 BA-386, 1 case M-79, 1 bottle of blood expander, 1 transfusion set to be sent out on resupply ship in the morning.
94 2025 Listening post 1 reports movement to his front approx 150 meters, possibly 10-15 personnel, requesting 1 round illumination.
96 2040 A Co received 1 rifle grenade on east front, calling Arty.
98 2100 LP #6 observed round, reports seeing 3-4 personnel pull back vic XS641781
100 2111 Received call from Col Nelly, 50 ARVN Rgt, to have resupply chopper land in 50th compound to carry out 3 ARVN soldiers and 2 cases of PRC-10 batteries and 30 lbs rice.  50th Advisers call sign PRIDE UPLANDER on their primary Air.
106 2150 A Co reports receiving sniper fire, carbine, 200 meters out, no friendly casualties.
107 2156 B Co also received sniper fire, believed to be same fire A Co received, no friendly casualties.
    Daily Sit/Rep 081801H to 091800H Apr 67

1.  Operational Summary:

  a.  General:  2/14th Inf continued to defend in sector at forward base camp vic Ben Luc.  Six listening posts were conducted during the hours of darkness and security was posted throughout the perimeter.  2/14th Inf (-) continued to advance toward Obj DELTA vic XS634884 to destroy VC fortifications and facilities in AO ST GEORGE, however due to difficult terrain the battalion was forced to establish their RON site vic XS624874.  One company remained in base camp for security and continued to improve their defensive positions.  Two 105 howitzer batteries and the heavy mortar platoon continued to fire in direct support of the battalion operation.  In addition, the engineers and the Recon platoon cleared the road from the forward base camp to Ben Luc.
