From SMaj: The donut dollies arrived at 2/14 Inf location at Rach Kien at 0725.
31 1300 From Maj Colson to Maj Williams: 1 reinforced squad w/machine gun will be attached to the Arty to go to Duc Hoa. Then to Cu Chi (2-3 days), will be fed by arty. Meet chopper tomorrow morning 29 Jan will return to us by CH-47 on 31 Jan. Patrols came and went, outposts and listening posts, etc, all with no contact.

At 1100 hrs patrol WOLVERINE saw 2 men, 1 woman loc vic XS668835. 2 men started shooting as the patrol approached. Patrol returned fire, picked up woman. She had 2800 $VN on her. Held for interrogation.
20 1630 C/4/9 sent platoon size element to XS691780 to check area where Chieu Hoi stated there was a weapon. The area was searched, 2 female detainees were picked up and 1 black uniform was found but no weapon. 21 1635 A mechanic from 4/9 was evac by dustoff, had Sulfur in his eyes. 30 2400 SUMMARY: 1st Bde continues opns LANIKAI and FAIRFAX with 4/9 conducting local security around its Bn and company bases. 2/14 Inf conducted local security around its bn base.
PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf will continue FAIRFAX with local security and preparation for future opns. 2/14 Inf will continue opn LANIKAI with A/2/14 conducting local security around Rach Kien and B & C Companies will move to Ben Luc by vehicle in preparation for future opns.
