From S3: The 2/14 Inf Cmd Freq was changed to 43.00 effective 010700 Jan 67. All units and adjacent units were notified by Commo.
20 0720 S3: Awards ceremony today 1400 hrs in front of the TOC. 1 platoon from each company to be present. Rehearsal at 1000 hrs. Principal staff. Co CO's and right guide and persons to be decorated. 28 0815 Patrol 2: Reports seeing 2 personnel in rice paddies, observed them with binoculars. They had no weapons, but when approached the personnel fled into wood line XS744694. 29 0830 Patrol 1 to 33: Reports observing the 2 individuals previously reported by patrol 2 at 0815 hrs. Moving east vic XS745693. Patrol 1 was instructed to keep under surveillance but keep down and don't give away location. 32 0907 Patrol 2 reports sighting a sampan containing 2 men, 1 woman, 1 child with no weapons, heading down the river to the village vic XS 743693. 33 0715 Bde to 33: VR Report 1 Jan 67: 1. At 700683 aerial observer saw fortified positions, and larger fighting positions. 2. Road north of Rach Kien and just west of it there are two ponds, however just one pond is shown on the map vic XS742704, this is the northernmost of the 2 ponds. There appear to be positions from which 60mm mortar can be fired. 43 1320 B Co to S3: Engr Demo team will be blowing mortar duds in front of B Co's first platoon area. 72 2039 B Co reports two incoming rounds, either rifle grenades or 60mm mortars. Landed vic Coord XS744696. 75 2300 C Co requests illumination round be fired in front of their perimeter. They had one trip flare go off, loc vic XS746697.

Platoon securing the An Loc bridge has apprehended one more detainee who was trying to cross bridge without papers, and dressed as a Buddhist Monk. He is being held there with the other man (Ref Item 47 31-Dec-66)

Patrol 2 from B/2/14 sighted 2 persons at XS744694, had no weapons, fled when unit approached.
35 2400 SUMMARY: 1st Bde continues opns FAIRFAX and LANIKAI. 4/9 Inf: conducted local security, 2/14 conducted local security, 3/22 conducted local security.
PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf will conduct Eagle flights into obj vic XS6979. B Co (35 personnel) will conduct Eagle flight into obj vic XT7776. While Co (-) moved by foot to linkup and conduct S&D on obj, then return to Co base. C Co (35 personnel) conduct Eagle flight into obj vic XS7881, while Co (-) moves by foot to linkup, conduct S&D on obj and then return to Co base. 2/14 Inf A Co will conduct air assault into LZ vic XS7367. 1/46 ARVN Bn moves by foot from Can Duoc to vic XS749669, deploys and conducts S&D to vic A/2/14 blocking position. A/2/14 remains night of 2-3 Jan in obj area. B and C Co defend Bn base. 3/22 Inf A Co will conduct Eagle flight into :Z vic XS9074 and extract by helicopter during afternoon. B co DS 5th ARVN Airborne Bn. C Co is reaction force. 51st ARVN Airborne Bn conducts detailed ambushing in AO BEAR, center of mass XS8881.LANI
