15	1500	Resupply helicopter in support of B/4/9 opns rec'd 1 hit from SA fire at 1430 hrs vic XS785773.
16	1605	4/9 convoy at 1530 hrs vic coord XT675114 heard shots, nothing hit. Convoy closed Cu Chi B/C 1540 hrs.
21	1805	A/4/9 patrol GIANT rec'd 2 mortar rounds XS723798, neg casualties. At 1740 4/9 patrol COLT saw the mortar fired. 4/9 is firing 81mm mortars. Will check out and report results.
24	2045	B/4/9 reports element under mortar attack. Request gunships be sent to B/4/9 loc XS787771.
25	2050	Ref Item 24: Mortar attack has ceased. Request gunships be available on standby.
27	2110	Ref Item 24: 3 or 4 mortar rounds fell on B/4/9 position, neg casualties, neg damage. Counter-mortar fire was employed.
28	2111	A/4/9 patrol COLT returned to B/C, 1 man has suspected appendicitis.
36	2315	B/4/9 patrol sprung ambush against 4-5 VC who came near or within 150 meters of position XS782755. Patrol to relocate 300 meters north of original posn at XS782758.
37	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continues opn FAIRFAX and LANIKAI and conducted security opns in its fwd and rear bases. 4/9 Inf continued FAIRFAX with B/4/9 moving to XS787773. 2/14 Inf continued LANIKAI with ambushes and security in Ben Luc area. 3/22 Inf returned OPCON 1st Bde at 121200 hrs Dec 66. PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Bn will continue FAIRFAX and LANIKAI. 2/14 will continue improvement of base area. B & C 2/14 remain in Cu Chi and secure bunker line. 3/22 Co A will conduct S&D in AO COW XS8881. Co C will conduct S&D onps in AO vic XS8483.
