16	0801	2/14 informed by S-3 that laterite pit is 2/14 responsibility starting 031800 Dec.
20	0925	C/4/9 patrol action 021945: Search of area at XS768777 revealed 2 VC KIA (BC), 1 VC KIA (Poss), 2 Chicom carbines, 3 US M-26 grenades, 1 set US web equipment, 1 US carbine. No enemy unit identification.
23	1040	Ref Item 20: Women claimed one of the bodies as her son (16 years old) joined VC 4 months ago. Documents found on both bodies. Evacuated to District HQ. Woman detained for further questioning.
24	1145	S3 Air: 2/14 informed that the 2/14 would be asked to give 81mm mortar instruction to 65th Engr. Direct coord w/S-3, 65th Engrs. Auth.
25	1146	2/14 will conduct .50 Cal. firing from bunker line 1400-1500. Will call for clearance prior to firing.
44	2005	C/4/9 received 6 rds mortars unk caliber from vic XS768779. 3rd platoon C/4/9 on way to ambush loc observed mortar position and brought position under fire with SA and AW fire. Called Arty. Results unk, no casualties, fire ceased.
61	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued opn LANIKAI, FAIRFAX and conducted local security and ambush opns in Cu Chi base area. 4/9 Inf continued opn FAIRFAX with Co C, in conjunction with PF/RF personnel, conducted platoon size patrols vic XS759785. 2/14 Inf continued local security and ambush opn in the Cu Chi base area. 4/23 Inf continued opn LANIKAI with Co A conducting S&D BUDDY opn vic XS5971 with one plat 3/50 ARVN. PLANS SUMMARY: A/4/9 Inf (FAIRFAX) will conduct company size search and ambush BUDDY opn with PF/RF forces vic XS7578. Co B and Recon will support opn of the 3rd ARVN Bn vic XS7383. 2/14 Inf will continue local security opn, and conduct ambush missions in the FILHOL Plantation. 4/23 Inf (LANIKAI) will continue company size BUDDY opn vic XS5971.
