B/2/14 patrol #3 hit by 2 claymores & 7 grenades XT697176 causing 1 KIA and 5 WIA. Received carbine fire from northeast. Reaction force was committed. Arty called to fire coord XT697180. Dustoff called 0335. Gunships supported dustoff at 0420. Dustoff complete 0435.

B/2/14 extraction resupply completed 0745.
16 0830 A platoon from 2/14 checked the area 697176. Found a 15 meter trench in area with structures at each end, with tunnels leading into them, blood and clothing at trench line indicate 9 VC KIA (Poss). 20 0925 B/2/14 requested dustoff for 6 WIA. 1 litter PZ 698175. Contact was made at 0910, est 1 reinforced squad, 1 A/W and 10 semi-auto firing from trench line. Co maneuvering against force at this time. 21 0935 B/4/9 fwd 2nd lift on LZ picked up 2 male detainees. 23 0945 B/2/14 man stepped on a mine, 1 WIA coord 698175. 24 0950 B/4/9 picked up 1 VCS at XS568734. 26 1030 Ref Item 24: Released by National Police. 31 1115 B/2/14 found 1 large AT mine at XT696175, destroyed in place. 35 1235 B/2/14 loc 690175 moving through A/2/14 blocking position. Returning to Ann Margaret. When B Co has cleared A Co position, A/2/14 and Cav platoon will proceed to obj MEMPHIS to establish night defense. 39 1325 2/14 C&C ship observed 4 VC vic XT692192 at 1300 hrs, Arty was adjusted on the location resulting in 4 VC KIA (BC). 49 1525 2/14 Recon platoon will depart 1535 hrs through Ann Margaret to link up with A/2/14, will be under A/2/14 control. 52 1635 Delayed Entry 1400: C/4/23 found (1) pull type booby-trap, 21 lbs explosives, (1) trip AA mount, (1) canteen, loc XT651180. Explosives will be destroyed, other equipment evacuated. 53 1645 Request dustoff for (3) Vietnamese children who stepped on a mine. 55 1700 Dustoff for RVN nationals complete. Personnel were injured as a result of mine or booby trap at XT704181. U.S. element 2/14 Inf has not fired Arty into that area. 71 2202 4/23 reports bunker radar picked up movement of approximately 6 persons vic XT650174. Calling in mortars. 76 2400 SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued Opn LANIKAI and KALIHI. 4/9 Inf continued Opn LANIKAI with BUDDY S&D mission with 3/50 ARVN. 2/14 Inf continued Opn KALIHI with BUDDY S&D mission in the FILHOL Plantation. 4/23 Inf conducted local security and preparation for movement to Ben Luc. B/4/9 will continue Opn LANIKAI with S&D BUDDY mission with 3/50 ARVN. 2/14 Inf will continue Opn KALIHI with S&D mission in FILHOL Plantation. 4/23 Inf will continue preparation for movement to Ben Luc and local security mission.
