B/2/14 patrol #4 checked suspected area where activity was and returned to perimeter with neg. contact.

B/2/14 received one rd grenade or mortar. Single shot carbine rounds were heard at 2100, 2200 and 2330.
10 0450 B/2/14 plan changed. They think it might have been compromised due to ARVN working with and the movement in the area. They will start at 0600. 21 0700 B/2/14 received 3 rds sniper fire from XT699184. Returned fire with M-79, 1 slight WIA. No dustoff required. 23 0730 B/2/14 started moving 0720 4/7th ARVN runner has 1 VC caught in between them, they are in a small fire fight at this time XT708177. 25 0740 2/14 reported that 1/7 ARVN spotted 5 VC moving south, are searching area at XT703182. 29 1000 B/2/14 requested dustoff for 1 WIA, 705178, critical, result of mine. Dustoff coming from Saigon. 30 1020 Dustoff cancelled. WIA evac by C&C. Also 4 WIA's that were wounded 29 Sep 2200 hrs. 31 1030 Ref Item 29: Mine appears to be booby-trapped 105mm round vic 704179. 36 1320 B/2/14 started S&D along obj starting at 1310. 1 VC KIA (Poss with S/A fire XT705174.) 40 1410 A/3/4 Cav platoon with B/2/14 sustained 2 WIA's. Track hit mine vic XT706184, will be evac by C&C, time 1400. 41 1412 At 1410 another APC hit mine, 1 WIA will be evac with the other 2 WIA's, second mine believed to be command detonated. 42 1420 B/2/14 and 3/4 Cav receiving fire (SA) from right flank. Maneuvering to overcome and eliminate. 43 1420 A/4/9 convoy closed B/C 1350 minus one lowboy which broke down between CP 2 & 3, another lowboy has been dispatched to the scene with 2 gun jeeps as escort XS775980. 47 1445 Delayed Entry: Dustoff requested for 2/14. Total is now 3 litter and 4 ambulatory. 49 1632 2/14 reports (Ref Item 32 & 33) 6 WIA from 3/4 Cav, 1 WIA from B/2/14. All casualties from mines. 50 1730 2/14 loc vic XT698172 and will remain in this location tonight. 55 1900 B/2/14 sustained 2 WIA's from booby-trap vic XT698172. Evac by resupply aircraft. 75 2400 SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued opn LANIKAI & KALIHI. C/4/9 moved to and closed. 4/9 fwd in B/C 0720-1350. B/2/14 & 1 Co 1/7 ARVN conduct BUDDY opn S&D to obj area XT705180. B/2/14 suffered (2) WIA US from 6-7 rifle grenades and (2) 60mm mortar rds. Fire was returned with S/A and M-79 and ARVN Arty neg results. The S&D resulted in (7) VC KIA (Poss). (10) US WIA's, (1) US DOW & (2) M-113's damaged by mines. 4/23 conducted local security and maint. (1) USAF CAS mission was flown in support of opn KALIHI resulting in (2) sampans destroyed.
