6	0215	A/4/23 fwd received 3 mortar rounds just outside of perimeter around aircraft.. No casualties.
16	0550	C/2/14 assumed Laterite Pit.
21	0625	B/2/14 is stand-by company.
24	0815	A/4/23 sent out 10 men to make contact with chopper that is still unsecured.
25	0834	4/23 1st lift on the ground
26	0835	A/4/23 received 1 WIA vic XT 746199, not as result of enemy action. Dustoff requested.
27	0838	A/4/23 2nd lift on the ground, no contact.
28	0842	Dustoff making A/4/23 pickup
29	0844	4/23 3rd lift on the ground, no contact.
32	0910	A/4/23 secured downed aircraft. There was 1 WIA at that location. Dustoff by support chopper.
33	0920	4/9 requests air strike vic XS634715 at 240715 Oct. Request CBU, WP, NAPALM
34	0925	Dustoff completed from downed aircraft, unit of casualty unknown.
35	0926	4/23 reports 1st downed chopper in the air.
36	0930	C/4/23 (remainder) on the way.
37	0943	A/4/23 reached downed aircraft and found 2 men missing, 1 pilot and 2 A/4/23 personnel left the ship during the night, heading west.
38	0950	B/4/23 found 2-3 spider holes, 15 rds of Russian 7.62 ammo, 2 machetes vic XT744197.
39	1012	2nd Downed aircraft is being lifted out.
40	1020	Ref Item 37: All are accounted for. 2 crew members and 3 Inf were evacuated last night, 2 crew and 3 Inf remained with downed aircraft.
43	1100	3rd downed aircraft is lifted out.
44	1101	C/2/14 3rd platoon at Laterite Pit heard 4 rds SA fire coming from vic XT 673145. They seemed to be directed at aircraft. At 1055 four more rounds were directed at aircraft, from same direction.
45	1109	4th downed aircraft out.
46	1125	B/4/23 located 40 rds Russian 7.62 ammo and one AP mine and 1 duck (?) vic XT 746200. Destroyed.
48	1137	B/4/23 destroyed 5 structures and 5 ducks vic 743200.
49	1140	2/14 assumes patrol area A from 4/23. A patrol will be sent into the area tonight.
50	1150	4/9 reports SP4 Hauf was found at 0800 hrs vic XS 597772, drowned in Oriental River.
51	1150	1. 2/14 assumes 4/23 patrol area 1200 today. 2. Stand down AVLB.
52	1212	2/14 requests extension on 3/4 Cav element until 26 Oct.
53	1215	B/4/23 evacuating documents found vic XT 745198. DTG of capture 231203 hrs. A/4/23 evacuating documents found vix XT743199 at 231100 hrs.
54	1230	2/14 request for Cav and Engr is approved through 261800 Oct 66.
55	1252	B/4/23 requests dustoff for one individual with gunshot wound in leg (accident) vix XT 745198.
72	1650	Delayed Entry 0200: Vic XT 743199 during the conduct of security mission of downed aircraft A/4/23, while defending area killed 1 VC (BC) and 6 VC (Poss).
74	1656	Delayed Entry 1530: Aircraft extracting B/4/23 received 2 tracer rounds est 7.62, no hits.
99	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued Opn KALIHI with 2nd Bn 14th Inf and 4/23 Inf conducting S&D operations in FILHOL Plantation. Company size. 4/9 Inf continues LANIKAI with S&D BUDDY Opn, vic XS6472 with elements 3/50 ARVN moving by RAG.
