9	0610	No fire zone effective until 1200 hrs today 7121, 7321, 7319, 7119 due to 1st Bn 7th ARVN activity in that area.
10	0640	4/9 fwd rpts that firefight 3/50 ARVN was involved in at 142121 hrs resulted in one VC (BC) w/carbine. Body and weapon were found at first light this morning.
17	0926	B/4/23 picked up 6 VCS at 701143. The Chieu Hoi said that these 6 people were ones who helped him dig tunnels for the VC.
20	1002	2/14 request Scout dog and handler for 161400.
21	1005	B/4/23 loc a tunnel at XT695140 the Chieu Hoi said that this tunnel was one the VC used to enter the village. Tunnel is approx 500 meters long and flooded. Are destroying.
25	1120	B/4/23 loc XT695144. Found M-79 manual and a copy of a S.O. in a house at this location.
40	1325	2/14 closed ORIOLE. Destroyed 5 structures with adjoining bunker XT698209.
43	1356	2/14 received 7 rds sniper fire at 698207, no casualties 1325. 3/4 received 2 rds 700213. Sniper fire.
44	1357	B/4/23 received 5 rds sniper fire 692146, returned fire. Think they trapped two men in tunnel. Destroyed tunnel. 1 VC KIA (BC), 2 VC KIA (Poss).
45	1358	A/4/23 departed from Laterite Pit received 2 rds. 2 Suspects, they are checking out.
47	1520	At 1500 hrs Supply ship in support of 2/14 recd 7-8 rds of AW fire vic coord XT701205. Aircraft was at 200 ft, speed 50 knots, received 2 hits.
55	1845	B/4/9 patrol BULLMOOSE (17 men & Scout Dog team) XS639781 departed 1830.
61	1947	2/14 requested & recd permission to fire counter-mortar fires at 152100 Oct 66.
65	2030	Msg from Viking 2Y - Receiving fire on new life hamlet from est 1 VC plat vic coord 743151. Returning fire with S/A & 81mm mortar. No assistance required at this time.
73	2130	2/14 patrol 1 692213 engaged 3 VC 50 meters to front with M-16 & LAW & M-79. VC returned (1) round, checking area now.
77	2220	C/2/14 spotted sampan at coord 697212. Fired MG, sampan drifted to north side of river, no longer in sight.
83	2310	B/4/23 ambush patrol 1 vic 925155 heard voices immediately to front, threw grenade, voices ceased, will check at first light.
85	2345	Ref Log 73: 2/14 - Located (1) VC KIA (BC), VC lying in road in sight. Patrol returned to perimeter, watching VC to see if they attempt to remove body. Also spotted (1) VC coming out of river vic coord 699211. Fired MG, VC fell back into river, (1) VC KIA (BC).
89	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continues Opn KALIHI (2/14 & 4/23 Inf) and LANIKAI (4/9 Inf). 4/9 Inf cont'd BUDDY Opn vic XS575763 with 3/50 RVN. 2/14 Inf con't S&D Opns in FILHOL Plantation in vic XT6920. Bn established overnight BC vic XT699209. 4/23 Inf cont'd Opn KALIHI with a BUDDY Opn. C/4/23 & 1 Co 4/7 RVN conducting S&D Opns vic XT6914. PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf: Bn will conduct local patrols, maintenance of personnel & equipment. 2/14 Inf Bn will conduct a BUDDY Opn with 2/7 RVN vic XT7120. 4/23 Inf Bn will conduct BUDDY Opn vic XT7013 with 4/7 RVN.
