From 1st Bde Avn to S3: 1. Helicopter bringing mail to Tay Ninh, will leave Cu Chi at 0830 hrs & arrive here approx 0900. 2. Red Cross Ladies will arrive here approx 0900 hrs by same helicopter. 3. Any passengers from 2/14 for Cu Chi should also catch this helicopter on its return trip from Tay Ninh
10 0835 From 2/14 Medics, Gordon Smith, Co C, possibly bitten by a snake last night. Taken to 196th Dispensary. 11 0845 From S3 Rear: Chopper 630 now departing 1st Bde location, will be at your location in 30 minutes with two Red Cross personnel and the mail. Request you send two vehicles, one for mail and one the Red Cross personnel can use. 12 0925 From 25th Div Lookout to 196th S3: (Monitored) Two (2) VC Hard Core Companies reported located vic coord XT 487413. Also VC General reported located vic coord XT 484425. 15 1400 From S2 196th Bde: Report from some fishermen states that they were forced to ferry approx 200 VC across the river last night. The VC are located vic grid square XT 1747. 22 1930 Patrol 1 leaving friendly front lines at 1930 hrs. 23 1930 From 196th Bde to S-3: Message from 196th Inf Bde (Capt Shouse) effective immediately one-third of all personnel will be alert at all times. Stand-to will be at 0530 hrs and a report will be rendered to 196th Inf Bde as soon as Bn gets the reports from all the companies. 24 1945 From S-3 to A,C,HHC: Stand-to will be at 0530 hrs and a report will be rendered to S-3 2/14th Inf not later than 0545 hrs. Also one third of all personnel will be alert at all times until further notice. 26 2020 4.2 Mortar Platoon reported a possible incoming mortar round near #1 gun, close to the road vic coord XT 170512. Unable to find crater. No friendly casualties. 28 2101 Patrol 1 in staging area. Left 2145 hrs. 30 2155 Patrol 1 engaged in fire fight. Patrol leader and six men are separated from Patrol by about 75 feet. Patrol leader and the 6 men linked up with the rest of the patrol at 2220 hrs. 32 2300 Patrol 1 reported that he had engaged 6 VC about 20 meters to their front on trail vic coord XT 171495. 3 VC were seen moving into the brush. No bodies or weapons were found. No friendly casualties. Patrol was instructed by Bn CO to hold their present location and establish ambush site.
