Bn S-3 conducted Staff Meeting at 0900 hours for S-1 representative, A4, HHC Commandant, S5, Commo.
9 1044 From Capt Shouse, 196th S3: 2/14th relieved as of 0800 this date from Corps Reaction Force commitment. 10 1300 Bn CO, S2, S3, left OAHU Base by helicopter on a reconnaissance mission to vic XT 3458. 11 1340 Return from recon mission. 12 1410 From S-2: Am now returning Chieu Hoi used on recon flight. 18 1910 From Capt Gilbert: Inform the Bn CO that there are no booby traps or mines outside the wire. 22 2215 Heard someone call for a medic. A check with the 4.2 mortar platoon revealed that PFC Robert E Miller had been picked up by medics in an ambulance with a possible heart attack, evacuated to 196th Medical Holding Co. Accompanied by 2/14th Inf Surgeon. 23 2230 From 2 Sonar Shopper to 196th Bde S3: (Monitored) Request dustoff for 2 litter patients (Vietnamese) one urgent and one priority, gunshot wounds and shrapnel wounds, coord XT437346, LZ secured, will mark with flashlights in L shape. Call sign 36 Sonar Shopper, Freq 40.40 Dustoff on way at approx 2240 hrs.
