23 0953 Request VTR to pull tanks from mud XT 678103 24 0955 XT 685120 5 rds sniper fire received by Saber element returned results unknown 25 0958 Tunnel entrance found XT 608115 w/fresh foot prints in vic investigated and caved in w/M113 nothing found 26 1100 Recon plt dispatched to return 5th Mech prisoners. 28 1115 A Co extracted tanks w/VTR cancelled VTR 31 1130 A Co located clothing and documents at XT 692122 323 1147 DR6 picked up Bobcat element heading back for BLACK 35 1206 A Co blew 1 tunnel 3 feet XT 692122 38 1235 DA6 captured 30 rds of SA ammo in plastic bag threw grenade in well to blow well and CPS started coming out 39 1255 D3 reports 8 civ personnel waiting in field in front of laterite pit VC GI suv 40 1259 DA reports both tanks study when they are free will return to BC 41 1315 DA6 reports finding a tunnel 65 meters long. It is a one layer tunnel located at XT 691121. Found at 1310 hrs 43 1353 B Co received scattered sniper shots on right of bunker line. 44 1420 Investigation of B Co sniper rounds disclosed that 4/9 test fired wpns in area 45 1430 Received a new ambush patrol plan from 4/23 Inf plan received at 1335 was incorrect it was given back to messenger to take back to unit. 47 1515 A Co sitrep they are still blowing tunnels that were found earlier sitrep also sent to Bde 48 1545 Call from Dragon Alfa 6 have destroyed 2 bunkers, 16 spider holes, 7 single layer tunnels about 8 feet deep each averaging 60 to 80 meters long. 1 double layer tunnel about 20 feet deep and 60 to 80 meters long XT 691121. The bunkers were not fighting bunkers were of the type that Vietnamese people build for protection in their houses. The map spider holes were about 8 feet dee`p 4 feet in diameter 52 1638 Dragon Romeo 11 has difficulty with vehicles unable to move is unloading into PC 54 1700 Dragon Romeo 11 have 1 vehicle with front axle stuck in mud. Have almost unloaded it. 65 1845 DL6 reported land line ripped by big boys, commo will be by radio until repaired 67 1901 Bde 33 called SFC Hollis and said a light gun team can be obtained by calling bde when you need it they will call div and div will divert one to us 68 1915 Gen Westmoreland will be in the Div area from 0800 1000 hrs 15 July 66 69 1920 Bde wants the nbr of patrols we have sent out since 1 Jun 66 also the nbr of VC KIA (poss and BC) telephone to Bde ASAP 70 1928 Disregard no 67 SFC Hollis 71 1935 CE will return to base camp by acf the 1st lift of 10 acf will depart at 0800 they will arrive at Bde resupply point 0835 the second lift will depart at 0910 arrive at 0945 they will walk to the co area CC equipment is loaded on artillery vehicles and is coming by road convoy. 72 2000 D6 has LC in now from Capt Turner to Capt Nieberding C&C ship will be at 0900 hrs and if it is not here a H23 will be available till it arrives 82 2315 DL6 reports that approx 3 rounds were fired in vic of a RVN compound, not DL6 position.
