Tomorrow morning 3 July 66 between 0800 0900 there will be a representative from Bde recon party to pick up one of our representatives to assist in performing an aerial recon of our new area for next mission.
16 0600 Sitrep to Bde Sit unchanged traffic normal on our section of Hwy 1 no signs of road block. 17 0720 30 bandage reports 2 road blocks XT 525185 2 dirt mounds and 20 dirt mounds XT 429233 18 0725 Saber Bravo 10 received report of roadblock at XT 525185 and XT 567166 a tree across the road 19 0745 DL1 cleared road 21 0800 Roadblocks reported to lawyer 1 22 0805 Road block elimination force SP'd of 0755 1st convoy 23 0808 Recon plt reports being bogged down on access road 25 0835 All road blocks eliminated 32 1325 Bde informed us that we have our gunship cancelled for 1530 July Col Shultz informed Capt Fleming that he didn't think that we had adequate security 33 1330 Base camp started to destroy the sandbags that are left

Journal closed.
1st Bde Cmd CP moved by air and motor convoy to An Thanh Hoa in the 4th Bn 9th Inf fwd area. Combat patrols dispatched within the last 24 hrs received no contact. Ft. Smith opns with 2/14 Inf terminated, 4/23 Inf remains attached to 1st Div. 1st Bde will continue S&D opns. 2/14 Inf will conduct 4th of July festivities. Contingency plans are being made for future opns.
