In the fall of 1970, following five years of combat in Vietnam, the Battalion was deactivated, it's colors furled, and the battalion was inactive until December 19, 1985 when the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry regiment was reactivated at Fort Benning, Georgia, to become part of the 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.

1990 | 2/14th sent to the Multi-National Force and Observers mission in the Sinai |
1991 | December: Deploy to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in support of Haitian Refugee operations |
1992 | August: 2/14th deploys to South Florida as a part of the Hurricane Andrew relief effort. |
December: Strategic deployment to Somalia in support of Operation Restore Hope (1992-1993) | |
1997 | 2 rifle companies from 2-14th Infantry to Bosnia for 8 months |
1998 | 2/14th deployed to Panama, and returned at the end of March 1998 |
2002 | 2/14th conducts peacekeeping operations in Kosovo |
2004 | By mid-July 2/14 has deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom |
