1936 Regimental Day Program
"Regimental Day" marked the anniversary of the assault on the Walled City of Peking, August 14, 1900, in which the 14th Infantry took a conspicuous and heroic part.
Of particular note in the program was the mention of a "14th Infantry Band" playing the "Regimental March" as the troops took their seats; that Company "H" had a mascot, a mule named "Mouse" that marched with the troops in the ceremony; that Sgt. Gates gave a speech on "Loyalty", and then Carrier Pigeons were released with messages to President Roosevelt, various Cabinet Members and Army Brass . . . and a particular Lt. Colonel by the name of Calvin P. Titus.
Take note of the posted sailing time of the U.S.A.T Chateau Thierry. The vital link from the base to the U.S.
