The following written message was received from the President of the United States, by Mr. Coles, his Secretary:
To the Senate of the United States:
I nominate the persons whose names are stated in the list, annexed to the enclosed letter from the Secretary of War, for the promotions and appointments respectively proposed.
I nominate John Gibson, whose commission as Secretary of the Indiana Territory, will expire on the 22d of this month, to be Secretary of the said Territory, for four years next ensuing that date.
