61st Annual Reunion
held at Boston, Massachusetts, September 12-18, 2010

Twenty eight Golden Dragons recently took advantage of the Boston tour packages and comfortable facilities provided for a reunion by the 25^th Infantry Division Association at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. 14^th Infantry banners and unit guidons decorated our tables in the Hospitality Room as old stories were re-told and new friendships were begun. Our “longest journey prize” this time went to Recon’s Bob Wilson who came all the way from Guam. He was joined by 3 of his “brothers” from 1966 and all of them were surprised when KIA SGT Jessie Harris’ sister Anna and his Aunt June flew in from Washington state to be with them. (Recon photo) They all got to meet and become friends with red-scarved Gene Charny who served with 1-14 Fox Force in 1969-70 after the Battalion had been switched to the 4^th Infantry Division. Hopefully more joint reunions with this group are in the future!

Company B’s David Riebe and his wife Kathleen recon’d a restaurant location with room enough for the whole bunch and we all got together on Friday evening for our own little banquet. Little heck! We had a crowd and it included our brothers and families from 2-14 Infantry!! Thanks to “Alpha Army’s” M.L. Tate and his new bride Linda the “garage sale Golden Dragon from Orlando” showed up and is front and center in many of the group and individual photos.

Saturday night was the 25^th Infantry Division Association annual banquet and our Dragons and their ladies cleaned up real well. Particularly impressive was Charlie Company’s CSM (ret) John Boyce in his original “Dress Blues”. (see photo) JB was able, after 44 years, to thank our old Battalion S-3 COL (ret) Jim Evrard for noticing he was “out of it” from malaria and throwing him into an H-23 helicopter for evac to the rear.

Deeply missed by all, but with us in spirit from the VA Hospital in Asheville, NC was MSGT (ret) Dan Marthers and his wife Phyllis. Hopefully they will rejoin us next year at our reunion in Hawaii from 25 Sept. through 1 October 2011.
